Bikers Code of Conduct

Please read carefully

1. Any rider under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
2. Allowable Use: Our free-use bikes cannot be ridden on any lift assisted trails unless they follow our Route Cards which take in gentle fire roads and tarmac routes back to base. Under no circumstances must free-use bikes be ridden on Downhill trails, Green or above. These bikes do not have sufficient stopping power and componentry to handle the terrain. Any misuse (use on these trails) detected by our reps will be charged to guests.
3. If you would like to ride the Downhill lift-assisted trails (graded green, blue, red, & black) we recommend you rent a well-serviced, full suspension, quality “Pro Bike” from a reputable resort supplier with quality parts and heavy-duty disc brakes for mountain biking using the lifts.
4. You accept the risks of riding on Downhill or lift assisted trails (Green to Black) and bike parks or pump tracks and you must assess the risks for yourself and their suitability for your own abilities.
5. Our staff are not qualified guides or instructors. Any advice they impart is in good faith and should only be taken as an idea of ‘what to expect’. Please do not ask them for technical tips, specific route planning or guidance on riding DH or lift assisted trails. They are not qualified to assess a route for your ability.
6. You must obey all local etiquettes and rules of the trail and to ride with care and attention at all times. Remember to ride on the right when on the road
7. Respect all route signs and closures – do not ride uphill on downhill trails. Do not ride off (away from) marked routes.
8. Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs – The local police do breathalyse riders.
9. When stopping, ensure you are off trail and not blocking traffic – ensure you are visible and check uphill before setting off.
10. Always ride in control, choosing appropriate routes for your ability level and conditions – If unsure, please contact a member of staff or consult a trail map.
11. Always wear appropriate safety equipment, never ride outside of you or your bikes capabilities – if in doubt consult a member of staff. Always wear a helmet. Always wear full pads and body armour on any lift assisted green, blue, red, black trails and bike parks.
12. You must have sufficient physical dexterity, ability, and knowledge to safely ride the bikes and trails. If in doubt, seek advice from a qualified professional, such as a certified guide.
13. Bikes must come back clean and in the same condition they left in; otherwise you may be charged a cleaning fee and for damages (see our Bike & Equipment Disclaimer)
14. Bikes must be returned to the main workshop (hotels) or to your designated bike store (for chalets) on time (by 5pm) on the day that the hire/loan period ends. For full week loan/rentals, (6 days) this day is Friday – the day before transfer day. For 1+ day rentals, this day is the same day or last day of hire. Otherwise, you may be charged a late return fee or a supplementary day of hire.
15. For any planned ride you must always set off with a well-maintained bike and appropriate gear for the weather and activity concerned. Always ensure you have a safety kit with appropriate equipment, (bike spares, suncream, spare clothes, food, water , working phone, first aid kit). Ask our Bike reps for bike spares such as inner tube and basic tools which we provide in our Bike Safety Packs, and are free-of-charge, but must be requested.
